For over 40 years, alumni of the University of San Diego School of Law’s LLM in Taxation program have gone on to practice successfully throughout California, the United Satates, and the world. Our highly-ranked LLM program provides students with the theoretical and practical framework to become skilled leaders in the field of tax law.

In order to apply to this Master of Laws program, you must have received your JD degree from a U.S. law school or you must have a law degree (such as a Bachelor of Laws) from an accredited institution in a country other than the United States.

The LLM in Taxation degree requires completion of 24 credits of coursework including three required courses: Corporate Tax (3 credits), Partnership Tax (3 credits) and International Tax (3 credits). Required courses can be waived by the Director upon good cause shown by any student. Most of the courses in the curriculum provide survey level instruction in subjects typically not addressed in J.D. level tax courses.
