Course Structure
You’ll be fully prepared with our comprehensive approach for ALL your SQE assessments.
Part 1: SQE1 Preparation
Our SQE1 Preparation is designed to ensure you are fully prepared for the SQE1 assessment, covering the ‘functioning legal knowledge’ that is assessed in the first part of the SQE qualification, as well as helping you to understand how those same areas will be assessed in SQE2.
Using a Virtual Practice Environment, you’ll actively apply this knowledge to realistic scenarios and reflect on this in collaborative workshops, led by expert tutors, and periods of independent study. In this way, you’ll develop a deep knowledge and understanding that aligns your functioning legal knowledge with your legal skills, understanding how they are intertwined in a practice environment, in readiness for the second stage of the SQE assessments.
This course also covers the full range of skills that will be assessed in SQE2, such as Legal Research and Legal Writing.
Part 2: SQE2 Coaching
Once you have successfully completed the SQE1 assessments, you can then move on to our SQE2 Coaching course to prepare you for the final stage in your academic SQE journey.
It features a period of independent online study, which typically takes around one month, followed by an intensive 10-day coaching session to get you ready for assessment success.

This provides you with an important social and collaborative learning environment as well as valuable interaction with our professionally experienced tutors, who use their expertise to bring your studies to life. Throughout the course, there will be designated breaks for the consolidation of learning.
You can choose to study this course through face-to-face learning at our centres, or online via Online Classroom Live. The course is exactly the same, with an equal amount of live teaching, no matter which mode you choose.
How you’ll learn
When you study with BPP, you will experience an innovative and personalised learning methodology designed to best prepare you for the assessments and a career in legal practice.
In addition, you will have the support of a dedicated personal tutor and access to The Hub, BPP’s new learning environment, which provides 24/7 access to learning materials and resources, with a dedicated app for Android and iOS.
1. Prepare
Develop your knowledge using BPP Adapt, our AI-driven adaptive learning platform. Your teaching will be delivered in short bursts, with regular testing and instant feedback to help you develop and retain your new knowledge.
It will identify your strengths and knowledge gaps, providing additional materials for areas where you might need extra support. All your learning is tracked through data analysis so you can measure your own progress, as well as access support from your tutors who actively provide feedback and coaching for the topics where you need them most.
2. Apply
Help your new knowledge come to life by completing real-world trainee tasks in our Virtual Practice Environment. Here, you will experience realistic cases, transactions, scenarios and issues in a way that mirrors legal practice in a law firm.
3. Collaborate
Come together with other students to experience an interactive classroom experience, guided by an expert tutor from practice. This will help to shape and refine your knowledge and understanding through discussion, feedback and practical application.
4. Consolidate
Following each lesson, return to BPP Adapt to embed your existing knowledge and review the areas you most need to focus on and bridge any gaps in your learning. You will also be able to complete revision tasks and tests to check your knowledge and understanding.
To prepare for SQE2, you’ll also receive a personalised revision plan, and participate in a series of live workshops, to focus on your development areas before the final assessment.
5. Assessment
Finally, complete formative and summative assessments, including a range of questions and realistic tasks, to test your knowledge and skills.
