Nottingham Trent University

Introduction

Established in 1843, Nottingham Trent University has a long history of unlocking potential, breaking down barriers, and making a real difference to lives around the world.

With over 40,000 students and staff spanning five university sites, Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is one of the largest and most influential higher education institutions in the country. We are a university that is committed to driving forward meaningful change and we have received a wide range of prestigious awards for our research, dynamism and innovation.

We are proud to be recognised as a university that opens its arms to all. A quarter of our students come from households with a combined income of £15,000 or less, and we were the first university to sign up to the Government’s social mobility pledge, demonstrating our commitment to improving the prospects of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Teaching
At NTU, we are committed to providing a stimulating and inclusive learning environment for the benefit of our students, colleagues and communities.

Research
We are working around five key research themes that respond to a range of challenges in business, industry, the professions and society.

Enterprise
By working in collaboration with experts across NTU, as well as our partners and supporters, we help students, graduates, staff and members of our community to grow the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to thrive as an entrepreneur.

Knowledge Exchange
Our ambition is to be recognised as a force for good. We are passionate about transforming lives through academic and civic engagement and we work together with businesses and communities to tackle some of society’s toughest challenges.

This is NTU. This is University, reimagined.

We’re creating the university of the future.

  • A university that invites, includes, and listens — where partnerships are valued, knowledge is shared, and opportunities are accessible for everyone.
  • A university where learning is tied directly to industry needs: where each award and accolade is an endorsement of our everyday teaching standards, values, and methods.
  • A university that disrupts the status quo; that dares to ask challenging questions, in the name of insight and progress.
  • A university where research is applied and not abstract — where it supports teaching, delivers meaningful answers and improves real lives in real-time.
  • A university with the power and the purpose to transform, creating better people and not just better graduates.

The University of the Future is a project for the present, built on six core principles. Here’s how those principles work at NTU.

    Visa Requirements

You will need to ensure you have the correct immigration permission/visa in place before you start your journey.

Our award-winning student support team provide excellent advice and information on immigration matters and advice on how to make a successful visa application.

We encourage you to prepare in advance for your visa application and apply as soon as you receive your CAS.

You can apply for your Student visa up to six months before the start of your academic degree course.

Please note that your CAS may still state three months because this is a recent change, but you can still use your CAS to apply up to six months before the start of your course.

You can enter the UK only once your visa has been issued. You can arrive up to 1 month prior to the course start date (for courses more than six months in length). You must not travel to the UK before the start date given on your visa, no matter when your course starts.
